About Kevin's K9 Search & Rescue

On Sept 4, 2024, Kevin Highfield, of St Croix, VI went missing in St. Thomas. Search & Rescue teams along with the Coast Guard, searched land and sea for Kevin for 3 days. On Day 3, his family & friends learned that no K9 Search & Rescue was available in the territory, so they got together and raised the money and had a team on the ground in about 12 hours. Once they arrived on site, the dogs discovered Kevin's body within 15-20 minutes. While this was not the end we prayed for, family & friends at least had an answer and could begin the important process ahead of them. Kevin was an avid swimmer, outdoorsman, water sportsman and ecotour guide, among other things. He had a great love of animals and was a natural with animals of all kinds. He was even known to swim with schools of dolphins! Kev's K9's was created out of a need for search and rescue dogs in the US Virgin Islands. Add to that his love of animals, especially dogs, it seems the perfect way to honor his life and memory. We have partnered with K9 Search and Rescue of Central Florida to provide the proper K9 assistance whenever needed in the US Virgin Islands. Our goal is to leave no stone unturned, and to "Never Give Up!"
